Community Engagement Officer

About the role

headspace Port Augusta is looking for a Community Awareness & Engagement Officer to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people across Port Augusta and surrounding outreach communities. The role builds connections, amplifies youth voices and promotes early access to support for young people aged 12-25, leading community engagement, youth participation, health promotion initiatives and local awareness campaigns. It is a part-time position of 45 hours per fortnight.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver community awareness activities, campaigns and events that promote youth mental health and wellbeing.
• Build partnerships with schools, health services, community organisations and stakeholders across the region.
• Coordinate and support the local Youth Reference Group so young people are involved in service planning and community initiatives.
• Facilitate mental health literacy and wellbeing sessions within the community.
• Promote headspace services through events, outreach activities, social media and community networks.
• Support local activation of national headspace campaigns, keeping them relevant to the community's needs.
