Community Engagement Coordinator

About the role

The Community Engagement Coordinator will join Melbourne Airport’s Public Affairs team to lead strategic engagement initiatives for major infrastructure projects, including the Master Plan 2027 and the Eastern Extension Project. This role ensures transparent, inclusive communication with communities, regulators, and industry partners, supporting compliance with the Airports Act 1996.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement engagement strategies for the Master Plan 2027 and Eastern Extension Project.
• Coordinate logistics for forums, pop‑up events, and online engagement platforms.
• Create communication toolkits (FAQs, fact sheets, digital assets) for stakeholder events.
• Participate in all engagement activities, maintaining accurate records and reporting.
• Produce consultation summary reports with recommendations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while managing multiple priorities.
• Maintain stakeholder mapping and update the stakeholder relationship management system to ensure compliance and traceability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business or a related field.
• Ability to work occasional out‑of‑hours and weekend shifts (time in lieu).
• Proven experience in community engagement, public affairs or social impact roles.
• Understanding of IAP2 engagement standards and infrastructure consultation processes.
• Strong knowledge of planning frameworks and legislative compliance (desirable).
