Community Care Home Care Worker

About the role

Banksia, a single-site NFP aged care provider based in Broulee, NSW, is looking for experienced individuals to join its Community Care team and deliver high-quality care to clients in their own homes. The role covers personal care, domestic duties, meal preparation, transportation and shopping, and is advertised as part-time and casual. It reports to the Community Care Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide activities and daily living support according to individualised care plans
• Prepare meals, give personal care and do general domestic services in the client's home
• Transport clients to and from appointments and help with shopping
• Implement basic clinical practices under Registered Nurse directions and assist with medications
• Document care plans, observations, medications, incidents and assessments, and report key events to the manager
• Maintain friendly, supportive relationships with clients, families and colleagues

Required profile

• Certificate III in Individual Support or Aged Care (or working towards it)
• Current first aid certificate
• Current NSW Working with Children Check and National Police check (or willingness to obtain)
• Understanding of and at least 12 months' experience in the aged care sector
• Current driver's licence, own reliable transport and ability to pass a physical assessment

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use an iPad for rosters and documentation
• High-level communication and customer service skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team, and to read non-verbal cues
