Community Awareness & Engagement Officer (headspace)

About the role

The Community Awareness and Engagement Officer joins the headspace Armidale team to promote the centre’s services, encourage early access to health support for young people, and deliver positive mental‑health messaging throughout the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide information to young people and families at headspace and at community events.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of organisations and community partners.
• Recruit, train, supervise and support youth participants in the headspace Youth Advisory Group or similar groups.
• Collaborate with the headspace team to ensure young people’s views shape service planning and delivery.
• Build partnerships with external service providers to advance headspace objectives locally.

Required profile

• Certificate IV or demonstrated experience in communications or stakeholder engagement.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to work autonomously.
• Proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple competing tasks to meet deadlines.
• Experience using a range of mediums—including social media, group facilitation and presentations—to connect with audiences.
• Background in the youth and/or mental‑health sector.
• Broad understanding of Australia’s mental‑health and primary‑care service systems.
• Creative problem‑solving and high attention to detail.
• Positive, collaborative team player.
