Communications Lead for PNG Ports Infrastructure Investment Program

About the role

Lead the communications and public diplomacy for a high‑profile infrastructure investment program in Papua New Guinea. Shape the program’s profile across the Pacific, build local communications capability, and travel frequently to PNG.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the PIIP communications strategy and individual port communication plans.
• Create media releases, speeches, social media content, fact sheets, brochures, promotional videos and digital materials.
• Promote the program through public diplomacy and stakeholder engagement with AIFFP, DFAT, PNG Ports Corporation, Australian diplomatic missions and project partners.
• Provide communications advice for key project events and ensure consistent branding and messaging.
• Mentor and coach local partners to build communications capability.

Required profile

• At least five years’ experience in senior communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related role, preferably in international development.
• Proven ability to develop communications strategies and produce engaging content across media, digital and social channels.
• Excellent writing, stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills, with experience working in the Pacific, Timor‑Leste or similar cross‑cultural environments.
