Communications Adviser

About the role

AFCA is seeking a Communications Adviser to join its Strategic Communications team on a 12‑month contract. You will create clear, engaging, and accessible content that supports the organisation’s strategy and connects with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, edit and publish content across email, intranet, web, newsletters, presentations and scripts.
• Support communication plans and campaigns aligned to strategic priorities.
• Ensure messaging is consistent, accessible and aligned with AFCA’s tone of voice and visual identity.
• Partner with subject‑matter experts to translate complex information into clear, engaging content.
• Manage feedback, approvals and production timelines to deliver high‑quality outputs on time.
• Support reporting and measurement of communication effectiveness.
• Contribute to team planning, ideas, continuous‑improvement initiatives and other tasks as required.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in communications, PR, journalism or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills across a variety of formats.
• Strong interpersonal and proactive relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset with a resilient and flexible approach.
• Interest in financial fairness and improving consumer outcomes is highly regarded.
