Commissioning Site Engineer (Process)

About the role

ACCIONA is recruiting a Commissioning Site Engineer (Process) for the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant in Perth, a $2.8 billion project delivering 150 million litres of drinking water per day, with first production targeted for 2028. The engineer reports to the Manager, Commissioning and supports the commissioning, start-up, performance testing and initial operation of the desalination process systems, covering both control room monitoring and field-based troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop working knowledge of assigned process systems and control logic
• Support safe execution of commissioning activities to specification and procedure
• Collaborate with operators and the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation teams
• Conduct system walkdowns, punch listing and completion verification
• Support loop checks, sequence testing and cause-and-effect matrix testing
• Assist with system testing, troubleshooting, performance validation and operational readiness
• Review and analyse process trends and data to inform commissioning decisions
• Apply HSSE systems including PTW, LOTO and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards and contribute to handover of systems to operations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process or Instrumentation & Control engineering
• Experience commissioning or operating water treatment or desalination plants
• Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs and control philosophies
• Working knowledge of SCADA or DCS control systems
• Genuine safety-first attitude and willingness to be fully site-based during commissioning
