Commis Chef – Casual Kitchen Team Member

About the role

Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort is looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef to join its kitchen team on a casual basis. The role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen, assists with preparing and presenting high-quality dishes and helps deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and presentation of dishes across all sections of the kitchen.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Take initiative to develop culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment.
• Support less experienced team members when required.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Cookery and previous experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of Modern Australian Cuisine.
• Understanding of HACCP and workplace health and safety (OH&S) requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends.
• Ability to coach and motivate less experienced kitchen team members.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working rights within Australia or New Zealand.

Shifts and pay

• Breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts; split shifts may be required on some days.
• Monday to Friday: $36.81 per hour; Saturday: $44.18 per hour; Sunday: $51.54 per hour (rates exclude superannuation).
