Commercial Superintendent

About the role

BUMA Australia is seeking a Commercial Superintendent for its Blackwater project in Central Queensland. As the senior finance and commercial leader, you will partner with the Project Manager and site leadership team to support cost control, planning, claims, contract performance and business improvement, while leading the site administration team.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily, weekly and monthly financial and operational reporting and lead monthly project performance reviews.
• Lead the monthly claims and variations process from preparation and submission through to certification, approval and payment.
• Monitor project costs, cost drivers and committed expenditure, identify adverse trends and drive corrective action.
• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting, including operational, workforce, plant, revenue, cost, cash flow and capital assumptions.
• Oversee month-end close, balance sheet control, data integrity, financial controls and audit requirements.
• Lead and develop the site administration team and build relationships with the client and internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrate visible safety leadership and integrate safety and risk into commercial decisions.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
• CPA or CA qualification.
• At least seven years' experience in commercial finance, management accounting, business performance or project commercial roles, preferably in mining, resources, infrastructure or a similarly complex environment.
• Demonstrated experience in cost management, planning, performance reporting, contract administration, claims, variations and subcontractor management.

Required skills

• Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP.
• Advanced Excel and exposure to Power BI or similar reporting tools.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, analytical capability, contract judgement and clear communication.
