Commercial Specialist – Defence Procurement (Interim)

About the role

This interim position supports a major defence prime on a maritime sustainment programme. The Commercial Specialist will lead contract negotiations, manage commercial risk and work closely with site‑based teams, senior executives and local suppliers to ensure seamless delivery of services and materials.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate and execute complex commercial contracts and service agreements.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial risks throughout the programme.
• Collaborate with site stakeholders, senior leaders and suppliers to achieve immediate outcomes.
• Procure a wide range of services and materials essential to defence sustainment.
• Provide autonomous, hands‑on support to the broader commercial team.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of commercial management experience, preferably within defence.
• Proven ability to work autonomously in fast‑paced, high‑risk environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience engaging senior leaders and project managers.
• Australian citizenship; active Defence clearance is highly advantageous.
