Commercial Manager – Energy & Resources (Australia)

About the role

EnerMech is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to provide strategic commercial leadership across key contracts and projects in Australia. Reporting to senior leadership, you will drive commercial performance, manage contractual risk, and support sustainable business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage commercial strategy and performance for projects and contracts across Australia.
• Provide commercial guidance to operational and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review, negotiate, and administer client and subcontractor contracts, identifying and managing commercial risks.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasting, margins, and cash flow, identifying cost‑optimisation opportunities.
• Develop and implement commercial governance processes, systems, and best practices.
• Support tendering and business development activities, including pricing strategies and risk assessments.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Prepare and present commercial reports, financial analyses, and performance insights to senior management.
• Mentor commercial and project personnel to strengthen capability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Law or related discipline.
• 7‑10+ years of commercial management experience in energy, mining, oil & gas, engineering or industrial services.
• Proven experience managing complex contracts such as EPC, maintenance, shutdown or service agreements.
• Strong knowledge of Australian contract law, commercial frameworks and risk management.
• Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen – budgeting, forecasting, cost control, performance analysis.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team.
