Combat System Safety Engineer

About the role

Saab Australia is looking for a Combat System Safety Engineer to join its WA team. You will develop and maintain system safety programmes for cutting‑edge defence capabilities while supporting design changes and system sustainment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system safety program plans, processes and frameworks.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk analysis and safety case documentation.
• Perform safety analysis for design changes, engineering updates and problem reports.
• Establish and trace safety requirements, verify mitigation controls and support V&V activities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in safety engineering for complex software‑intensive systems.
• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain Defence Security Clearance.

Required skills

• Hazard identification and risk assessment.
• Safety requirements development and verification.
• Safety architecture, design and case development.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑882 and other safety engineering standards.
