Cloud Engineer - AI & Data Technology & Operations

About the role

Medibank is looking for a Cloud Engineer - AI & Data to design, deploy, automate and support cloud environments that power its data, analytics and AI solutions. The role sits in a high-performing Cloud Engineering team and focuses on AWS and Azure, with a particular emphasis on AI and data platforms. It is based in Melbourne, VIC, on a hybrid basis.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain cloud environments across AWS and Azure, and develop Infrastructure as Code solutions with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible or similar.
• Automate cloud provisioning, deployment and operations, and evaluate emerging cloud capabilities and managed services.
• Build and operate cloud platforms for data, analytics and AI/ML workloads, including AWS AI services such as Bedrock, SageMaker, Amazon Q, Comprehend, Textract and Kendra.
• Support governance, classification and lifecycle management of AI solutions, and partner with Data and AI teams on use cases.
• Apply cloud security best practices and the Principle of Least Privilege, enforce governance standards, and support monitoring, auditing and remediation.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure, manage change, release, incident and problem management, and maintain documentation, standards and runbooks.
• Gather and document requirements, contribute to project planning and estimation, and facilitate workshops with stakeholders.

Required profile

• 2-5 years' experience as a Cloud Engineer with strong AWS experience.
• Proven experience designing and deploying cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience supporting data, analytics and AI/ML workloads in AWS.
• Strong AWS administration experience.
• Experience with serverless and container technologies, cloud security and governance, Python and Linux shell scripting, Git and CI/CD tools, and Agile delivery.
• Nice to have: AWS Solutions Architect certification, MLOps or data governance experience, DevOps experience, and ServiceNow and Jira.
