Clinical Nurse - Paediatric Perioperative Respiratory Medicine

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (CN) role provides advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of patients, residents and clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met. It works autonomously within the Healthcare Team structure and is central to planning, managing and delivering specialist paediatric perioperative nursing care within Respiratory Medicine. The nurse provides clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research, and supports management activities including portfolio responsibilities. The Respiratory Medicine portfolio oversees surgical care in the operating room suite environment and may extend to other specialties as required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct comprehensive care or direct care, accountable for NMBA and own standards, actions, outcomes, professional advice and delegated activities.
• Support systems by adhering to guidelines, protocols, procedures and standards set by the Operating Suite unit, CHQHHS and the Department of Health, Queensland.
• Act as a clinical and educational resource, informing evidence-based practice.
• Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge and evidence to achieve agreed care outcomes aligned with organisational priorities.
• Act as a clinical leader with integrity, transparency and accountability.
