Clinical Nurse Consultant - Diabetes (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Werribee Mercy Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Diabetes Nurse Educator for a 12-month fixed-term maternity leave cover position from December 2026 to December 2027. The role is part-time (0.8 FTE) and sits within the Diabetes Education grade 4 A/B depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualised diabetes self-management education to patients across inpatient wards and outpatient programs.
• Act as an expert clinical resource for patients and staff across Werribee Mercy Hospital.
• Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a highly responsive and flexible service to patients and carers.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), holding a current practicing certificate and current AHPRA registration.
• Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA), or working towards ADEA credentialing.
• Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education.
• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care.

Required skills

• Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.
