Clinical Nurse (Cardiac Cath Lab) – Talent Pool

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to join our newly built Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Rockhampton Hospital. The role will support the full patient journey—from pre‑admission through invasive procedures to recovery—while helping to shape a vibrant unit culture.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical nursing care across pre‑admission, procedural and recovery phases.
• Lead clinical decision‑making, monitor patients, and promptly escalate any deterioration.
• Coordinate patient flow, staffing and daily Cath Lab activities to ensure efficient operations.
• Assist cardiologists during invasive interventions, maintaining aseptic technique and radiation safety.
• Mentor and supervise nursing staff, graduates and students, fostering continuous learning.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the NMBA via AHPRA.
• Extensive experience in interventional cardiology and advanced patient monitoring.
• Proven clinical leadership, critical thinking and effective communication.
• Active involvement in quality improvement, audits and evidence‑based practice.
• Demonstrated empathy, professionalism and respect for patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
