Cleaner (Indigenous) – Queensland Children's Hospital

About the role

This frontline support role provides essential support for the delivery of frontline services, programs and outcomes at Queensland Children's Hospital and surrounding facilities, including the Centre for Children's Health Research, the Bank Building and the Energy Plant. It sits within the Patient Support Services team, whose Cleaning unit maintains hygiene and infection control standards. There is a genuine occupational requirement under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that the incumbent be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Key responsibilities

• Clean high and low areas such as walls, floors, bathrooms, windows, ceilings, furniture and fittings, including infectious environments
• Sweep, dust, vacuum, buff and scrub
• Use the iClean platform to track extra tasks and monitor cleaning status
• Clean clinical and non-clinical areas in line with CHQ procedures, Infection Control Guidelines and the Strategic Operational Services Unit
• Work professionally and respectfully with the multidisciplinary team to support patient-centred care
• Clean and make beds, and remove and replace curtains
• Remove and transport general, clinical and recyclable waste

• Genuine occupational requirement: Indigenous to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
• Ability to work professionally and respectfully in a multidisciplinary team
