Claims Consultant – General Insurance (Local Government)

About the role

Marsh is looking for a Claims Consultant to join its Echelon Claims team in Melbourne, VIC. The role handles a portfolio of general insurance claims for Local Government clients, with a focus on liability claims. It is a hybrid position requiring at least three days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end processes for a mixed portfolio of mainly Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Property claims
• Carry out accurate reserving and claims investigations, manage claims costs and negotiate with third parties
• Build and maintain client relationships and foster links with brokers, underwriters and reinsurers

Required profile

• Suitable for soon-to-be graduates, recent graduates with a law degree, or people with less than a year's experience in general insurance claims
• Ideally more than a year of experience in insurance claims
• Relevant tertiary qualification such as Law or Business/Commerce
• Approval to work in Australia; a criminal and bankruptcy check is required before starting

Required skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication and a strong customer service approach
• Administration and organisation skills, with Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (a strong point)
• Ability to work under pressure, manage time and meet deadlines
• Motivated self-starter able to work independently and in a team
