Civil Project Engineer

About the role

Rokon, a civil contractor in Victoria with over 25 years' experience, is looking for a skilled and driven Project Engineer to join its Engineering team. The team provides engineering and project management expertise in the planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting of projects across Melbourne. The role reports to the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Keep documentation, internal procedures, ITPs and other project requirements available for reference and use on each site or stage.
• Document quality and HSE requirements and communicate them clearly to the Site Supervisor.
• Manage contracts and technical engineering specifications for each project.
• Manage stakeholder groups including subcontractors, councils and relevant authorities.
• Liaise with business functions, administration and site management to ensure materials flow as required.
• Manage project costs and timelines and escalate issues promptly.
• Arrange project meetings and ensure status minutes are completed and distributed.
• Investigate cost, claim and overrun anomalies and address them.
• Forecast final costs and update forecasts regularly as jobs progress.
• Provide regular and ad hoc reports on engineering and project activities to management.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.
• At least 4 years of engineering experience in civil construction, with residential and subdivision exposure.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and to estimate from first principles.
• Advanced analytical skills and strong communication, relationship-building, negotiation and leadership skills.
• Proactive, self-motivated, with strong time management and organisation skills.
• OH&S induction White Card and a current Victorian driver's licence are essential.
• Shortlisted candidates must complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
