Chiller Technician

About the role

Trane Technologies is looking for a Chiller Technician to join its team of professional service technicians. The role is on-site, five days a week, reporting to the Service Team Leader, and involves operating, maintaining and repairing commercial chillers and HVAC equipment. The position also includes occasional training of apprentices and bringing in new client leads for small service repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out operational, maintenance and repair work on commercial chillers and HVAC equipment
• Perform planned and unplanned service, maintenance and commissioning of Trane and other brand chillers, air handling units and unitary air conditioning systems
• Complete the required paperwork accurately and on time
• Take part in the after-hours standby roster
• Maintain good working relationships with technicians and apprentices, and work within pairs and smaller teams
• Comply with all safety, company and statutory policies and procedures
• Take part in company training and service meetings
• Facilitate on-site training for technicians and apprentices and supervise an allocated apprentice as required
• Quote and bring in new client leads for small service repairs

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience or exposure to commercial HVAC chillers
• Trade qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning
• Current restricted electrical licence and current ARC licence
• Valid driver's licence (daily travel to client sites is involved)
• Construction induction card (white card)

Required skills

• Experience in AC maintenance and installation of all types
• Good time management and customer service skills
• Technical competence and ability to work alone and in a team
• Positive, proactive approach to safety
