Childcare Chef

About the role

Each is seeking a Childcare Chef for a casual opportunity based in Ringwood East, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People. You will join the Early Childhood team and help support children's health and wellbeing through nutritious, high-quality meals and positive food experiences. The role pays $36.31 per hour plus 25% casual loading.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks that meet the dietary needs of young children
• Create and maintain seasonal menus aligned with healthy eating guidelines
• Cater for allergies, special dietary requirements and cultural food preferences
• Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
• Manage stock and ordering so kitchen supplies stay within budget
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues to promote healthy eating habits

Required profile

• Experience working as a Chef or Cook
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and excellent communication skills
• Collaborative approach and passion for providing healthy meals for children
• Current Anaphylaxis Training, or willingness to obtain it before starting

Required skills

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen compliance requirements
