Casual Support Worker - Labrador

About the role

Northcott, a not-for-profit disability service provider, is offering Casual Support Worker positions in Labrador. You will provide person-centred support to adults with disability so they can achieve their goals, maximise independence and take part in their home and community. The role sits within Individual and Supported Living Services.

Key responsibilities

• Support customers with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, domestic tasks and medication assistance.
• Help customers access and take part in community activities, social events, appointments and recreation.
• Promote choice, independence, skill development and meaningful participation in everyday life.
• Implement customer support plans, behaviour support strategies and health care plans as required.
• Provide active support to customers with complex physical, behavioural and communication needs.
• Complete accurate documentation, progress notes and incident reports.
• Work with families, allied health professionals, coordinators and other support networks.
• Maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive environment that upholds customers' rights, dignity and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience supporting people with disability, mental health needs or complex support requirements.
• Experience providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Experience with manual handling, transfers, mobility equipment and mealtime support.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.
• Relevant qualification in disability, community services, individual support, aged care, nursing or related fields (desirable).

Required skills

• Confidence supporting customers with behaviours of concern and implementing Behaviour Support Plans.
• Strong communication, observation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written documentation and reporting skills.
