Casual Personal Care Assistant

About the role

Respect Mareeba Gardens is seeking casual Personal Care Assistants to join its care team. The role provides additional support to the care team, including helping to cover personal leave, annual leave and other staffing needs. Casual staff can work across a range of shifts depending on availability and operational needs, and they work under the direction of the senior clinical team to support the wellbeing, dignity and independence of residents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care and support to help residents maintain their independence and dignity in daily living and lifestyle.
• Deliver meals and refreshments as required.
• Record observations on assessment charts and log exceptions to the care plan in progress notes, reporting them to the EN/RN.
• Check residents' daily menu requirements.
• Carry out duties allocated or delegated by the RN/EN, including general ward duties.
• Help with additional shifts, including covering planned and unplanned staff leave.
• Complete other tasks within the employee's skills and scope of practice as directed.

Required profile

• Current National Police Certificate (or ability to obtain one).
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain one); essential.
• Relevant Certificate III qualification.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in residential aged care.
• A caring, respectful and person-centred approach to supporting older people.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts.
