Casual Beach Lifeguard – Western Sydney

About the role

The Australian Lifeguard Service (ALS) is recruiting highly motivated, self-driven casual lifeguards for multiple aquatic locations in Western Sydney, including Penrith Beach, Parramatta and Bents Basin. You will help establish and maintain a safe recreational environment and provide an effective lifeguarding service during the key patrol periods. All training is provided, and candidates with availability across summer are preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to aquatic incidents and provide first aid when required
• Deliver excellent customer service and promote safe swimming practices
• Work alongside the ALS management team and other lifeguards to deliver the service safely
• Deliver lifeguard operations within the boundaries of the allocated region

Required profile

• Relevant current qualifications, such as SLSA Bronze Medallion or Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue); pool lifeguard qualifications are viewed favourably
• Substantial experience and technical knowledge of lifeguarding or similar public safety roles
• Understanding of Surf Life Saving procedures, practices and policies (desirable)
• Current unrestricted motor vehicle driver's licence and access to your own vehicle
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required

Required skills

• Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
• First Aid
• Strong swimming ability, including 400 metres in 8 minutes in a 25 or 50-metre pool
