Casual Bar Duty Manager

About the role

Melbourne Fringe is hiring casual Duty Managers for its venue at Trades Hall, Fringe Common Rooms. You will be the main on-site person delivering the public-facing program of events, mostly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, including private functions, DJ nights, arty parties and independent arts events. During the Melbourne Fringe Festival you will work across the Festival Hub bars in the Loading Dock and Club Fringe. You report to the Venue Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the venue's event program and provide exceptional customer service to hirers and patrons
• Supervise the casual bar team and lead them to deliver great service
• Enforce liquor licensing requirements and ensure safety during events
• Supervise bar operations and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and controlling stock levels
• Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally and efficiently
• Train new staff on bar procedures and service standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area

Required profile

• Proven supervisory experience in hospitality, preferably in a bar setting
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
