Casual Aquatics Program Instructor

About the role

The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre is looking for energetic program staff to join its Aquatic Programs Team. The centre runs one of the largest swim schools in New South Wales, with 3,500 students ranging from babies to elite athletes, offering learn-to-swim lessons, children's aquatic birthday parties and school holiday programs. The position is a casual role with shifts from Monday to Sunday, morning and afternoon.

Key responsibilities

• Instruct Learn to Swim lessons, coaching squads, schools, birthday parties and holiday programs to meet the needs of participants.
• Contribute to advice on swimming instruction and swim coaching, and help promote the centre's programs.
• Maintain equipment, keep the storage area clean and set up and put away equipment for lessons.
• Follow the centre's safety procedures and comply with administrative policies and legislative requirements.
• Support the Aquatics Programs Manager, Swim School Coordinator, Programs Coordinator and Head Coach, and liaise with sporting organisations, schools and other bodies.

Required profile

• Current Swimming Teaching qualification (Austswim, Royal Life Saving or Swim Australia).
• Current CPR certificate.
• Current Working with Children Check (employment).
• Austswim, Royal Life Saving or Swim Australia qualifications must be kept current.
• Australian citizens or permanent residents; non-Australian citizens need the appropriate visa and work permit.

Desirable

• Additional teaching qualifications such as Infant and Preschool Aquatics, Access and Inclusion, Towards Competitive Strokes, Adult Teaching or Development Coaching.
• Recreation or aquatic customer service experience.
• First Aid certificate.
