Carpenter / Handyman – Defence Division

About the role

Service Stream's Defence division is looking for a Carpenter / Handyman to support the Property and Asset Services contract across South Australia and the Northern Territory, based at RAAF Tindal. You will support qualified tradespeople with manual tasks on construction, maintenance or industrial sites, or deliver carpentry and general maintenance services across bases.

Key responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with measuring, cutting, assembling and installing materials
• Prepare and clean work areas and ensure tools and equipment are ready for use
• Perform general maintenance such as patching, painting, tiling and minor plumbing work
• Load, transport and organise materials and supplies on site
• Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision
• Carry out general labouring duties such as lifting, digging and site clean-up
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Required profile

• Previous experience in a construction, maintenance or industrial environment
• Hands-on experience assisting trades such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers or landscapers, or qualification as a Carpenter
• Experience with manual labour tasks such as lifting, digging or site clean-up
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely on active job sites
• Team player in fast-paced or physically demanding settings
• Australian citizen able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance

Required skills

• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools
• White Card
