Business Services Accountant – Tax & Financial Reporting

About the role

We are seeking a Business Services Accountant to provide tax, financial reporting and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of SMEs and entrepreneurs. The role involves preparing tax returns, managing BAS/FBT/GST, and delivering strategic business advice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver business services to a varied client base, including SMEs and entrepreneurs.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements and management reports in line with Australian accounting standards.
• Prepare income tax returns, BAS, FBT and GST for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
• Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimise client tax positions.
• Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management for clients.
• Liaise directly with clients, offering clear advice on business structures, compliance and regulatory obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (mandatory).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in public practice, focusing on taxation.
• Technical knowledge of Australian tax and accounting standards.
• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero.
• Proficiency with MYOB.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks.
