Business Development Manager - International Freight Forwarding

About the role

A privately held international freight forwarder founded in 2004 and now operating more than 100 people across ten offices worldwide is hiring a Business Development Manager for its Perth office in Subiaco. The team is small, so you will know the national sales manager and the CFO by name. There is no project cargo division yet, so candidates with such a network can bring it in.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and run your own direct sales activity and build pipeline through the CRM
• Identify, qualify and convert prospects across air, sea and road freight forwarding
• Prepare quotations, proposals and presentations and quote accurately
• Build lasting client relationships by understanding the supply chain behind the freight
• Work alongside operations, pricing and customer service so the client experience holds up after the win
• Keep pipeline and forecasts accurate and current

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in international freight forwarding, knowing sea and air properly
• At least 2 years selling freight forwarding with a track record of winning new business
• Able to quote and hold a margin conversation independently
• Proactive approach to finding new business, strong communicator, commercially sharp, resilient and self-directed
• Full Australian working rights and a current driver's licence

Required skills

• HubSpot CRM (no prior experience needed)
• CargoWise (previous experience preferred)

What we offer

• $90,000-$150,000 base depending on experience, plus superannuation
• $20,000 car allowance
• Commission of 7.5% on new business for two years, paid quarterly, activated once you cover 1.5x your employment cost
• No activity KPIs; judged on results brought in
• 8:30am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with one work-from-home day, mostly on the road
• Subiaco office with parking, laptop and phone, and team events with expenses paid
