Bus Driver (Casual) - Burnie

About the role

Metro Tasmania is hiring a casual Bus Driver in Burnie. You will transport passengers to work, school, appointments and community activities, helping keep Tasmania moving safely, reliably and with care. No previous bus driving experience is needed: if you can safely drive a car, the employer teaches you the rest through a six-week paid training program that builds confidence gradually, with hands-on support and experienced mentors. Graduates receive a Medium Rigid (Metro-specific) licence and ongoing guidance.

Required profile

• Current full Australian driver's licence held for at least 12 months
• Full working rights in Australia
• Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Tasmania), or an application already made
• Strong commitment to safety, professionalism and respectful customer service

The employer values skills from many backgrounds, including customer service, care roles, hospitality, retail and community work, and welcomes women, career-changers and people returning to the workforce.

What we offer

• Paid training from day one, including licence upgrades
• Personalised wellbeing program and Employee Assistance Program
• Discounts on health insurance, gym memberships and other benefits
• Free onsite parking and free bus travel for you and one household member
• Cover of the National Police Check, pre-employment medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) and the Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) licence

Applications are made online; the next paid training program starts in January 2027, and applicants who applied in the past six months do not need to reapply.
