Building Project Manager - Darwin

About the role

McMahon Services is seeking a highly experienced Building Project Manager for its Northern Territory Building & Civil team. The role leads projects from planning and mobilisation through to delivery, commercial close-out and handover, covering programme, financial performance, procurement, contracts, risk, quality and stakeholder relationships. It is a Darwin-based position, not FIFO, with a relocation package available.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage building and civil construction projects from planning through to completion
• Develop, manage and monitor detailed construction programmes
• Own project budgets, forecasting, cost tracking and margin performance
• Manage head contracts, subcontracts, procurement, variations and claims
• Identify commercial and project risks and implement practical strategies
• Lead subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and project personnel
• Maintain high safety, quality and compliance standards
• Mentor, coach and develop project teams, including Project Engineers, Contract Administrators and Site Managers
• Provide clear project reporting and communication to senior management
• Support regional project delivery as required

Required profile

• Highly experienced construction Project Manager with a strong track record on complex projects
• Solid experience across both civil and building construction, ideally in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor environment
• Strong commercial acumen and experience managing project financial performance
• Trade qualification in Carpentry or tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
• Current White Card and current DCAC or ability to obtain one
• Flexibility to travel to regional projects and ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing

Required skills

• Project management systems such as Procore, Aconex and MS Project
• Contract administration, procurement and risk management
• Leadership and mentoring of project teams
