Bookkeeper - Xero, Payroll and Client Reporting

About the role

An accounting practice in Brisbane is recruiting an experienced Bookkeeper through Edison Talent. You will work directly with business clients across a range of industries, keeping their accounts up to date and managing bookkeeping and payroll from start to finish. You will also support the accounting team by reviewing junior members' work and helping coordinate offshore workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping across multiple clients, including bank, GST and balance sheet reconciliations
• Process payroll and superannuation, complete STP finalisation and respond to payroll queries
• Prepare Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other required reports
• Assist with financial statements and management reporting alongside the accounting team
• Liaise with clients, accountants and the ATO
• Provide Xero training to clients and help improve their bookkeeping processes
• Review junior team members' work, give feedback and assist with offshore team coordination

Required profile

• At least two years of Australian bookkeeping experience, including in an accounting firm
• Comfortable managing multiple clients and communicating with business owners and senior staff
• Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or a relevant undergraduate qualification
• Experience reviewing work or guiding junior team members

Required skills

• Xero certification or at least one year of practical Xero experience
• Xero Payroll certification and the ability to process client payroll independently
• Experience with Xero integrations such as Receipt Bank, Hubdoc or Deputy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and ability to manage competing deadlines
• Experience with third-party payment gateways and payroll applications is highly regarded
