Backend Team Lead (Ruby on Rails)

About the role

Valiant Finance is looking for a hands‑on Backend Team Lead to own a squad building the core lending marketplace and enterprise embedded‑finance products. You will guide engineering standards while staying close to the code as the senior Rails voice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, career paths and technical guidance.
• Define and enforce best practices for testing, code reviews, documentation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Architect, build and maintain scalable public/private RESTful APIs and resilient third‑party integrations (Salesforce, Auth0, Cloudflare).
• Own cloud infrastructure, high‑volume data architecture and compliance work (SOC2, GDPR).
• Partner with product leadership to translate strategy into technical roadmaps and maintain predictable delivery rhythms.

Required profile

• 7+ years of commercial Ruby on Rails development.
• Proven experience leading backend squads in fast‑paced, scale‑up environments.
• Strong background in distributed system design, asynchronous processing (Sidekiq) and complex PostgreSQL schemas.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS or Heroku deployment via CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical decisions for business stakeholders.
