Backend Engineer (Remote Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design, build and maintain robust, scalable backend services that power innovative digital products. This fully remote contract role offers the chance to work alongside top‑tier engineers in a fast‑paced, expert environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Optimize systems for reliability, security, and efficiency.
• Write clean, well‑documented, and thoroughly tested code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, mentoring, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, focusing on root‑cause analysis.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and propose innovative solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of proven backend development experience.
• Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Deep understanding of system security, authentication, and authorization.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote, fast‑moving team.
