Backend Developer

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join BJAK’s AI‑powered neobank team. You will design and implement the core services that power onboarding, accounts, payments, cards, transfers, rewards, travel, foreign‑exchange, KYC and risk management for millions of users across multiple markets.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend APIs and services for financial products.
• Design reliable systems that handle real‑time transactions, operational workflows and future product extensions.
• Integrate with internal platforms, financial partners, payment providers, AI services and third‑party APIs.
• Ensure high standards of reliability, security, latency, observability, data integrity and incident response.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, mobile and AI teams to deliver features quickly and safely.
• Continuously improve existing systems by simplifying flows, automating manual tasks and reducing technical debt.

Required profile

• Proven experience building production‑grade backend systems.
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, authentication, authorization, queues, jobs and event‑driven architectures.
• Track record of delivering services used by real customers or internal operations at scale.
• Mindset focused on debugging, reliability, security and data quality.
• Ability to balance speed, correctness, scalability and maintainability.
• Fintech, payments or banking experience is a plus but not mandatory.
