Azure Cloud Engineer

About the role

Versent is looking for an Azure Cloud Engineer to support and evolve customer environments built on Microsoft Azure within its Managed Services business. The role covers the health, stability, security and performance of cloud platforms, working with customers, delivery teams and partners to troubleshoot issues, optimise environments and automate operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support and operate production Azure environments in a managed services context, monitoring platform health, availability, security and performance.
• Respond to and resolve incidents, problems and service requests, performing root cause analysis.
• Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Work with customers to troubleshoot issues and recommend improvements, and collaborate with internal teams to meet SLAs.
• Apply Azure best practices for security, governance, backup and cost optimisation.
• Contribute to service improvement, technical documentation, knowledge bases and automation libraries, and take part in agile ceremonies.
• Ensure compliance with customer security, cost governance and operational standards, and report risks and incidents per MSP protocols.

Required skills

• Azure Platform Operations: Level 2/3 support for Azure IaaS and PaaS (virtual machines, networking, storage, identity, monitoring).
• Proactive maintenance: patching, scaling, configuration drift control, backups, monitoring.
• Automation with PowerShell, Azure CLI and IaC tooling.
• Change management under ITIL/DevOps frameworks.
• Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD): user and group lifecycle, app registrations, Conditional Access, Entra Connect, Identity Governance (PIM, access reviews), MFA and SSPR.
• Monitoring Entra ID sign-in and audit logs and handling identity-related alerts.
