Aviation Rescue Fire Fighter Recruit 2027 - Brisbane / Coolangatta

About the role

Airservices Australia is recruiting Aviation Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) for Brisbane and Coolangatta Airports. You will join a close-knit crew that keeps the airports safe and responds 24/7 to aircraft incidents, fires, medical emergencies and other airport events. The initial 15-week recruit course is held at the training facility in Melbourne, and you receive your salary throughout training with accommodation provided.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to aircraft incidents and airport emergencies
• Provide first aid and emergency assistance
• Maintain specialist firefighting vehicles and equipment
• Take part in operational and fitness training
• Support airport safety and emergency preparedness activities

Required profile

• No previous firefighting experience required; comprehensive paid training is provided
• Ability to pass online tests, medical assessments and the Physical Aptitude Test (PAT)
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or Australian permanent residency
• Completed secondary education (minimum Year 10)
• Current unrestricted driver's licence, and a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence ready for training in early 2027
• Provide First Aid certificate (HLTAID011 or HLTAID014) before training starts in early 2027
• Strong teamwork, communication and decision-making skills
