Autonomous Technician – FIFO at Cloudbreak Mine

About the role

Join Fortescue's Autonomous Mining Systems team at the Cloudbreak mine in Western Australia. As an Autonomous Technician you will support and maintain cutting‑edge autonomous haulage technology, ensuring the fleet operates safely and efficiently on a FIFO roster.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain autonomous haulage and mining technology systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, network and control faults.
• Install, configure and commission autonomous hardware.
• Perform workshop and in‑pit maintenance activities.
• Calibrate GPS, perception and positioning systems.
• Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
• Promote Fortescue’s safety culture and Values in Action.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Auto Electrical, HV or Electronics.
• Mining maintenance experience on heavy mobile equipment.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic capability.
• Current C Class manual driver’s licence.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to safety.

Required skills

• Experience with Caterpillar MineStar or autonomous systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of electrical, networking or control systems.
