Automation Engineer – Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Center

About the role

Join Amazon’s largest fulfillment centre in the Southern Hemisphere and its first Amazon Robotics site in Australia as an Automation Engineer. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and improving control solutions for a wide range of automated material‑handling equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the site‑level Subject Matter Expert for all controls systems and sensors.
• Monitor, fault‑find and repair conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print‑apply stations, scales, HMI panels and control cabinets to maximise equipment availability.
• Train engineering technicians on basic control system diagnostics and preventive maintenance.
• Collaborate with the AU/EU Controls network to enhance MHE metric monitoring, data visualisation and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Ensure accurate documentation, backup libraries and compliance with IEC 61131‑3 coding standards.
• Support the installation, commissioning and hand‑over of new equipment alongside global teams.

Required profile

• Experience with automated equipment such as packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems.
• Hands‑on knowledge of material‑handling flow, capacity planning and PLC‑controlled automation.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and develop improvement strategies.
