Associate/VP, CMG Loan Execution

About the role

MUFG is seeking an experienced lawyer to provide transaction support and commercial risk management for syndicated and underwritten loans. The role involves leading deal teams, negotiating documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead deal teams to ensure timely execution of loan transactions, including structuring, negotiating, and drafting mandate documentation and term sheets.
• Own the loan documentation process from a commercial perspective, reviewing and negotiating agreements with clients, external lawyers, trustees, and internal stakeholders.
• Support integration of loans and bonds, provide debt financing solutions, and monitor regulatory changes in the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Maintain databases of agreements, participate in committees on regulatory matters, and ensure compliance with MUFG’s internal risk and Volcker compliance programs.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer (Singapore, English or other jurisdiction) with at least 4 years post‑qualification experience, including 3 years on loan transactions.
• Experience at a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal team within banks/financial institutions in Asia.
• Strong commercial acumen, results‑driven mindset, and ability to manage large workloads under pressure.
• Excellent written and spoken English; additional Asian language skills are a plus.

Required skills

• Loan documentation preparation, negotiation, and review (vanilla and complex transactions).
• Regulatory compliance knowledge for Singapore, Asia‑Pacific, EU and US financial markets.
• Commercial risk management and deal structuring expertise.
• Stakeholder coordination with clients, external counsel, trustees, and internal departments.
