Associate Professor – Transport Engineering

About the role

The School of Engineering at Macquarie University seeks an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transport Engineering. The role involves delivering high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervising HDR students, securing research funding, and strengthening industry connections.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in transport engineering.
• Supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates to successful completion.
• Obtain and manage competitive research grants (e.g., ARC) and industry‑funded projects.
• Conduct research that addresses efficiency, reliability, affordability and sustainability of transportation systems.
• Develop strategic partnerships with industry and government stakeholders.

Required profile

• PhD in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• National and international reputation for academic excellence in transport engineering.
• Proven record of high student satisfaction and transformative teaching.
• Successful track record in securing research funding and producing high‑impact publications.
• Experience supervising HDR students and mentoring early‑career researchers.

What we offer

• Salary package $186,433 – $205,067 per annum (Level D.1 – D.4) plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.
