Associate, Outsourced CFO

About the role

Grant Thornton Australia is looking for a driven Associate to join its growing Outsourced CFO team in Sydney. The role works with a diverse portfolio of clients, providing advisory services and helping them grow. It suits someone who wants flexible and hybrid working, with a focus on work-life balance.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with SME clients as an extension of their in-house finance function, delivering outsourced CFO solutions including cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting
• Turn financial data into actionable insights through management reports, including KPIs and variance analysis
• Prepare SPFS and coordinate GPFS, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Support corporate tax compliance matters such as company tax returns, BAS, payroll tax and FBT returns
• Contribute to special projects such as mergers and acquisitions, business restructuring and funding initiatives
• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor in high-impact advisory engagements
• Collaborate with banks, investors and business owners to share accurate financial insights
• Work with Directors and Partners and help train less experienced team members

Required profile

• Qualification or professional accreditation in Business, Commerce, Accounting or Finance, or another relevant professional or overseas qualification
• Has started (or plans to start) a CA qualification
• Significant business advisory experience in a chartered accounting setting
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, eager to learn

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Office (Excel)
• Experience with NetSuite or SAP is advantageous
