Associate Director – Project Architect (NSQEP)

About the role

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director – Project Architect to lead the design and delivery of complex defence, research and nuclear infrastructure projects in highly regulated environments. Based in Adelaide, the role offers relocation support for qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and delivery for safety‑critical facilities, ensuring compliance with Defence, NCC, IAEA and nuclear frameworks.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, integrating architectural, structural, services and specialist systems.
• Translate nuclear safety case and regulatory requirements into robust design solutions.
• Maintain design intent throughout all project stages and manage stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Accredited architecture degree with AUKUS registration and exposure to nuclear defence/NSQEP.
• 10–15+ years of architectural experience, including leadership on complex, safety‑critical projects.
• Australian citizenship or eligibility for AUKUS clearance.
• Proven experience as Project Architect or Principal Consultant on medium to large‑scale projects.
