Associate Director - Business and Tax Advisory

About the role

KPMG Australia is seeking an Associate Director for its Business & Tax Advisory team. The role can be based in Sydney, with relocation support for Brisbane or Melbourne.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of tax and accounting solutions for a diverse portfolio including private businesses, family groups, SMEs, trusts, partnerships and international structures.
• Act as a trusted advisor, managing high‑value engagements from planning through delivery and presenting strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Oversee complex compliance and advisory work, ensuring technical excellence and commercial value.
• Drive strategic advisory projects such as structuring, growth initiatives and business transformation.
• Collaborate across KPMG to provide integrated multidisciplinary solutions and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Senior Manager or Associate Director level in a professional services or advisory environment.
• Strong background in private business tax, accounting and advisory services.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex client engagements and stakeholder relationships.
• Track record of leading, coaching and developing high‑performing teams.
• Commercial acumen with experience contributing to business development and growth initiatives.

Required skills

• CA/CPA qualification completed.
• Expertise in tax legislation, accounting standards and advisory methodologies.
