Associate - Corporate and Commercial (Tax)

About the role

HWL Ebsworth Lawyers is looking for an Associate to join its Brisbane team within the Corporate & Commercial practice group, working primarily with Lindsay Reed and John Caravousanos. The team is described as one of the largest taxation teams in the Brisbane market, offering exposure to multi-jurisdictional matters and direct client access.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic tax advice to clients on income tax, GST, land tax, payroll tax and stamp duty
• Draft and advise on complex trust structures, trust deeds and wills and estates matters
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and help build team capability

Required profile

• Ideally 3-5 years of professional experience
• Income tax and/or state tax experience, or a desire to grow in these areas
• Broad legal experience beyond tax, such as M&A, property, commercial transactions or tax litigation, and a desire to apply it in a specialised context
• Full working rights in Australia and a valid practising certificate
