Associate Accountant

About the role

The Associate Accountant joins the Finance, Strategy and Business Intelligence division at the University of New England. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will support the university’s financial sustainability by delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse financial reports, statements and reconciliations for the UNE Foundation.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and university accounting standards.
• Provide expert financial advice to internal stakeholders and contribute to strategic decision‑making.
• Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures and controls.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in financial processes.

Required profile

• Solid expertise in financial accounting and a proven ability to apply accounting standards, policies and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on delivering insights.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
• Adaptable to change and proactive in identifying improvement opportunities.

Required skills

• Experience with TechnologyOne or a comparable ERP financial management system.
