Assistant Project Manager - Collins Submarine Sustainment

About the role

Babcock is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join its flagship Defence program, supporting the sustainment of the Collins Class Submarine fleet. The role is based at the company's new, purpose-built facility in Woodville North and involves supporting the day-to-day delivery of projects within the Collins Sustainment Program, working closely with the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safety, scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality requirements are met
• Plan, monitor and control work packages, and develop accurate financial and schedule estimates
• Coordinate reporting and engage with key stakeholders across the program
• Help shape project scope and requirements, and support client meetings
• Maintain project documentation and contribute to risk management, forecasting and change control

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with a Defence Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
• Eligibility to obtain clearance under the AGSVA guidelines, as the role involves US and Australian export-controlled technology and ITAR and defence trade controls compliance
• Pre-employment checks may be required, including references, police check, security check, qualifications and right to work
• Trade or mechanical background highly desirable or similar discipline

Required skills

• AIPM Project Management Certification (Certified Practicing Project Practitioner)
• Project Management qualification
• Working knowledge of project competencies
