Systems Engineer

About the role

Babcock is looking for a Systems Engineer in Abbotsford to support the design, delivery, acceptance and sustainment of the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System. Working across the engineering lifecycle, you will apply systems engineering principles to investigate technical issues, develop practical solutions and contribute to safe, effective and compliant outcomes for complex Defence capability programs.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to technical investigations, engineering documentation, risk assessments and formal customer reviews.
• Ensure activities are delivered to time, cost and quality expectations.
• Support knowledge sharing and mentoring across the wider engineering team.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in technical or engineering roles.
• Understanding of engineering standards, technical governance and product lifecycle support.
• Experience in regulated or Defence environments is highly regarded.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical information clearly and manage your own workload.
• Eligibility to obtain the appropriate Commonwealth Personnel Security Clearance, as defined in the AGSVA guidelines.

Required skills

• Systems Engineering Lifecycle experience.
• Requirements management and toolsets such as IBM DOORS.
• Tools such as Jira, Confluence and other project management and documentation software.
• Engineering toolsets such as PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software.
• Desirable: RF, HF and/or communications experience, and experience in in-service support, interface definition, subsystem design, installation supervision, set to work and commissioning.
