Assistant Financial Accountant

About the role

NRMA, a member-owned Australian brand, is hiring an Assistant Financial Accountant within its Financial Control team. The role supports the accounting and reporting needs of the Corporate/Group business unit, including month-end recharges, month-end and year-end close, variance analysis and Balance Sheet reconciliations. It is a career pathway to a Financial Accountant position. Attendance at the Sydney Olympic Park and Sydney CBD offices is agreed and required.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month-end journals (including accruals) and supporting calculations and documentation
• Calculate prepayments and provision balances, and prepare journals for Payroll Tax and Telecommunication charges
• Finalise month-end accounts with the Shared Services and Commercial teams
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, age reconciling items and clear them
• Support statutory accounts, regulatory reports and audit information
• Help draft finance policies and investigate variances
• Keep transaction records accessible and suggest improvements to finance systems

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
• Completed or studying CA/CPA
• 1-2 years' experience in a similar role in a medium to large organisation is ideal
• Ability to work under pressure and communicate well across the organisation

Required skills

• Good knowledge of MS Office
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle and/or NetSuite
