Assistant Accountant

About the role

Pallas Capital, a debt and equity fund manager specialising in financing Australian and New Zealand commercial real estate, is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join its Sydney head office. The successful candidate will work from the office five days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bank reconciliations across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Process invoices end-to-end, including coding, approvals and timely system entry
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including setting up creditors and processing payments
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including preparation of financial reports
• Support BAS preparation and other compliance-related reporting
• Maintain and update loan registers and supporting workpapers
• Calculate monthly interest on third-party loans and assist with broker trail payments
• Action investor transactions such as fund allocations, transfers, redemptions and distributions
• Support audits by liaising with external auditors and preparing documentation
• Help strengthen financial controls by identifying issues, escalating risks and supporting process improvements

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline
• 2+ years' experience as an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar
• Proven experience preparing bank reconciliations and supporting month-end reporting
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable and receivable and attention to detail
• Exposure to BAS preparation and general accounting compliance
• Strong organisational and communication skills, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word
• MYOB is advantageous but not essential
